Sometimes in life we find that we are working ourselves up over situations that are fairly mundane or normal. Maybe we are in traffic going into a tirade over someone’s driving, we allow ourselves to get angry, our blood pressure rises as we put our selves in further danger because we are driving under the influence of emotion.
I love to go skiing. I enjoy the exhilaration and challenge of racing down the mountainside, being present in the immediate, taking in the sights, sounds, smells of the mountain. I have some of my best insights into what I want in life when skiing. When learning to ski, I remember my natural reactions to the perceived and actual risks,
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. When I give myself pause to meditate on the 23rd Psalm, I am regularly dumbfounded at its language. I shall not want. What does that mean, and is that even possible to live without want?
